Caerlaverock Wetland Centre

Last Sunday was a beautiful day for visiting Caerlaverock Wetland Centre on the north side of the Solway Firth, a place I have not been to for ten years. there have been some big changes with improved hide facilities. The swan feeding time at 2pm was a highlight, with dozens of  whooper swans and other wildfowl gathered by the Sir Peter Scott Observatory. At this time of year, there are thousands of barnacle geese, which spend the winter here before returning to Spitsbergen in the High Arctic.
